David T. Polk, Ph.D.

Director Institute for Applied Social Research

David T. Polk has an earned doctorate degree in Applied Social Research from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.  His areas of expertise include both quantitative and qualitative research. 

Dr. Polk joined the faculty of York College of Pennsylvania in 1972.  He is currently an Associate Professor in Behavioral Sciences.  His teaching responsibilities involve primarily research methodology and statistics.  In addition, he is the Director of the college’s Institute for Applied Social Research.  The Institute, which specializes in applied social research, is designed to give students a practical learning experience in research. 

In 1979, he and Dr. Thomas Lepson founded Polk-Lepson Research Group in response to the need for marketing research in Southcentral Pennsylvania.  Today, Polk-Lepson conducts quantitative and qualitative research for clients across the United States.  In his capacity as President, Dr. Polk has planned and executed hundreds of studies for a wide variety of clients.  His research skills include the entire spectrum of quantitative methodologies as well as focus group moderating.

In 2004, he became part of the faculty of the American Bankers Association School of Marketing and Management at Northwestern University.  Each year, he teaches a course on marketing research for banking professionals. 

He has published articles on various research topics.  He has also delivered numerous oral presentations to both clients and at conferences.   

As a part of his civic commitment, Dr. Polk assists numerous non-profit organizations with their marketing research and strategic planning activities.
